Go to http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Games/InteractiveAdventures/John-smith and read at least two of the chapters. Then post a comment with something you learned about John Smith or Jamestown. First read your classmates' comments so that you don't repeat what someone else said. Trying the games will make your adventure more fun!

My fact is that on April 26,1607 the three ships docked in Chesapeake bay.

ReplyDeleteI found out that in 1606 about 105 men both upper class gentleman and common workers set sail from London in three small ships, headed for Virginia.

ReplyDeleteI found out that Captain John Smith had about 105 upperclass men with him on the ship when they were sailing toward Virginia from London. Later, he was captured by Indians when he fell in an icy lake. He surrendered and dropped his pistol.
ReplyDeleteJohn Smith sailed from London in 3 small ships, trying to find Virginia. His goals wereto establish a colony, find gold, and discover a water passage to the Pacific Ocean. At the end he was in jail. That is what I learned.
ReplyDeleteThe information I found is,on April 26,1607 the three ships with the prisoner Captin John Smith arrived in the Chesapeake Bay. Captin John Smith was chosen with seven other men to lead the state Virginia in the ruling council(it wasn't named Virginia at that time).

ReplyDeleteJohn Smith became Jamestown's greatest leader, and documented the Chesapeake Bay area's beauty and natural riches on an open boat. I also figured out that John's enemy, Edward-Maria Wingfield, was chosen to be president of the colony at first. I also played the game Which Weapon Wins and I figured out that an Indian's bow and arrow is more accurate and a better weapon.

ReplyDeleteCaptain John Smith met Pocahontas and she saved him by laying on top of him so the indians would not kill him.
I learned that John Smith gave the chief of the Pamunkey tribe his compass in exchange for sparing his life. I played Build a Fort and it took me 84 days to build a fort.
ReplyDeleteI learned that while John Smith was captured, a high chief named Powhatan wanted to kill him but Powhatan's daughter Pocahontas junmped on his body to protect him and saved him from being killed by the tribe.I also played the games and they were fun.

Jamestown was burned down.
I always thought Pocahontas was a full grown woman, like in her 20's, but I learned she was only 11. Also, when they sailed the rivers and waterfalls, they took notes and wrote down things about how amazing the scene was.
