Making a Difference

At our Mass this morning, we sang the words
"Go Make a Difference, We can make a Difference, Go Make a Difference in the World."
Our class is making a difference! When we heard that Governor Rendell's budget calls for an increase in funding for textbooks to public schools but no increase for non-public schools, we wrote letters to the Governor to urge him to pass a budget that treats non-public schools fairly. We agreed that as citizens, we not only have a right to speak out when we believe something is wrong, we have a responsibility to do so!
We pray daily for the people of Haiti. Kaela thought of a way to raise money to support the effort to send aid to those suffering in the aftermath of the earthquake. She made beaded keychains and sold them to her classmates. Everyone was eager to help by purchasing a keychain.
Making a difference begins with recognizing the places and the ways that our world could be a better place. How can you make a difference - on your bus? in your neighborhood? on your team? in your school? in the world?
Look around - you really can make a difference!

  1. On my basketball team I can make a difference by passing the ball to kids who don't get the ball often. I could make a difference on my bus by sitting next to the kids who most people don't talk to. In my neighborhood I could start a club for all of us and we would get together every week. In school I could be nice to the kids who are being bullied or invite them to play with me. In the world I could donate some money to charities or give food to the homeless at my uncle's shelter. That's how I could make a difference.

  2. I thought I can make a difference by growing up and becoming an inventor. I will make nature- friendly inventions like a car that runs on plain water so there will be no pollution from exhaust pipes. When I get the money from selling my creations, I will use every cent on the poor. I can make houses and buildings for those who have none. I can make hospitals for those who are suffering, dying from fatal diseases, and homes for those in need of shelter and comfort. Even though it's hard to be an inventor, and do all this, I should still give it a chance, because, sometimes, the impossible, can be possible, if you try.

  3. I love your comments guys. I could make a difference on my bus by standing for friends and others who feel they are left alone. In my neighborhood some kids get called names because of the way they look or the way they talk like for example my brother Ryan gets bullied all the time by some older kids.I always stand up for him, but I could also help other kids because in the outside they might look different, but in the inside their hearts are beautiful. On my indoor soccer team we are friends, but like if someone didn't score, some of the kids would start telling them they can't play soccer. I could tell them that they wouldn't like to have people tell them they can't play soccer so, hopefully they will stop. In school I could invite kids who don't have anyone to play with to play with me.There are so many things we could do in the world, but I think the most important is world peace. That is so important. Think about how wonderful our world could be if we all were friends, and nobody would be left out. All the poor people would have shelter, clothing, food, and all care supplies. The people of Haiti wouldn't have to suffer.Making a difference feels great and in the future maybe one of us could make a difference!

  5. wow those are some really good thigs to do. we can also do things by helping others if they need help to do stuff like if someone in your neigborhood is eldery and they have a dog you csn walk and wash their dog for them. you can also run erins for them if they are sick, hur, eldery, or if they can't drive. if one day you are at a nurseing home you can visit people that people hardly go to visit or if you just think they would like it. those are some ways to help the eldery and to make people happy and they do't even need to be eldery
